Atid Khuntasi (Tee 2)
.
Tee 2 (we call Tee 2 because we have another Tee) is the only son of his parents. His father's name is Autai. His mother's name is unknown. They lived in Trad in a small hut made from scrap. His mother died of complications related to AIDS.
Tee 2 lived with his father. Around June of 2005 his father died of complications related to AIDS. Tee was then living alone in the hut. His neighbors reported this to the Trad welfare department and asked them to help the child. Then Trad welfare department sent Tee2 to Rayong emergency home.
During this time Tee 2 often had a fever and cough. Then they sent Tee 2 to check his health at the
But Tee2 couldn't get his medicine every day because nobody took care of him. And Tee 2 often had to wear the clothes of his friends. He couldn't take care of himself; he needed a home and a family.
So the Rayong emergency home asked Fr. Giovanni to help the child. And accommodate him with the children in the CSC family.
Now Tee 2 has adjusted to his new home at the Center. He plays well with all the children and enjoys learning at the CSC school. He was a little slow to settle in at first but now he is happy and cooperative.

Chanjira Phrachumphan ( Tukkata ) was born on the 22th of
July 1996 in Rayong.
Tukkata's father and mother separated before Tukkata was born. After her
birth, Tukkata and her mother lived with her grandmother, her grandfather and
her uncle in the Pluakdeeng district of Rayong City. They picked vegetables
from the fields to sell at the market everyday.
When Tukkata was 5 years old Tukkata's mother told her, she would go to
work at Supanbury. After having earned some money she would send it toTukkata.
She left Tukkata with her grandmother and her uncle. One month ago Tukkata's
mother died at Supanbury Hospital.
At the age of seven Tukkata started to go to school like all children her
age. When she was 10 years old and in grade 4 at the Nicomsontonaing
Changwadrayong 8 School, she
noticed sores on her skin. But she didn't go to see a doctor because she had no
money and the hospital was far from her home.
Five months later, Tukkata had
even more sores on her skin.
During this time Tukkata's aunt came to visit Tukkata's grandmother. This
aunt had already planned a visit to the Kleeng Hospital. As she noticed
Tukkata starting to show the symptoms of AIDS, she took Tukkata to
the hospital with her.
She asked a doctor to check Tukkata's blood. There they discovered that
Tukkata was HIV positive. The Kleeng Hospital referred Tukkata to the Rayong
Hospital to check CD 4 and get treatment. Tukkata was very
scared and crying a lot.
Her grandfather took her to get treatment at the Rayong Hospital every
two months.
One year later, Tukkata's grandfather died. She was very sad. She cried
everyday. She didn't eat, didn't walk and didn't get treatment for about one
month.
After that horrible month she decided to start the treatment again. But
the sores on her skin only got worse. Her friends at school disliked her and
she didn't have anyone to play with. She cried everyday and told her
grandmother she didn't want to go to school anymore.
In such environment Tukkata could not follow medical prescriptions and
could not have a balanced diet.
Tukkata's
grandmother asked the welfare department to help her grandchild. Then the
welfare department came to visit Tukkata's family. They found Tukkata living
with an elderly woman and her uncle. Her grandmother is 74 years old. Early in
the morning everyday her uncle goes to sell vegetables and comes back at night.
Tukkata
didn't like to be a burden to her grandmother and her uncle so when she arrived
at the Camillian Center she was so happy to be here. Every time you do meet her
she would greet you with a beautiful smile.
At first when Tukkata arrived at the Center, she stayed in the CSC PCU
(palliative care unit) for about 7 days. Then she moved to the girls' house
where she shares a room with 7 other girls and one teacher.
Tukkata is
very happy to live at the Center. She loves playing with new friends. She is
talkative and enjoys finally having a proper meal and the right approach to her
health problems and ARV treatment.
We plan to
send Tukkata to school in the next scholastic year on May 2009, and she will be
13 years old.
